Alabang Ibons
Team
Country : Philippines

The Alabang Ibons have grown stronger this year with the inclusion of the HMR-ENVIROCYCLE
company. RANDELL CARMAN the owner of the HMR Group has started a company Rugby Union
development program that encourages employees to join the company Rugby Team. He has
also started construction of a training field beside the HMR-ENVIROCYCLE warehouse, which
is based in Santa Rosa.
The Ibons last won the Manila 10’s Shield competition in 2007 and find themselves in this division again in 2009. The Ibons are out to re-capture the style and pace of play that won them the shield two years ago. With new players coming through the ranks, the Ibons will definitely push to win back the shield at this year’s Manila 10’s.

This year’s team combines both youth and experience with club stalwarts Matt Cullen, Tom Egerton, Arlo Abono and Rey Lawas all anchoring the team, all these players are relics from the 2005 Cup finalist team. The HMR Envirocycle program has also provided a  strong group of development players who are led by the warehouse manager JJ. Big Mac and  Ben Fogle will once again travel down from the Baguio Eagles and the new boys on the block, Josh Moja  and Donald from the Adventist University will make up the Ibons team. All the above players will combine to ensure the Ibons will once again be a competitive force in the shield competition.

Super Coach Grant “Sung Long” Rice will once again rally the Ibons and expects nothing less than another Shield trophy to add to the Alabang Eagles growing trophy cabinet. Sung Long is renowned for his inspirational speeches and motivational teachniques. He will often lead by example and only respects tough, old fashioned hard nuts who are prepared to put their bodies on the line. Since retiring he has made several come backs, most notably the 5 seconds at the Phuket 10’s where he was binned for a late, high and rather hard tackle, that saw him branded as the Extinct Volcanoes HIT MAN on that tour. He has the lead in the pencil to motivate the Ibons to another Shield Trophy in 2009. OH and he always has a honey…………..
